Description Sr. HR Generalist - McMurdo (2006 -2007) Raytheon Polar Services - Experience Antarctica How would you like to work with adventurous individuals in a unique, fun, and exciting environment? Raytheon Polar Services is the primary contractor for the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Antarctic Program and we are in need of Sr. HR Generalist(s) to work at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. In the 2006 –2007 hiring season we have 2 open contract Sr. HR Generalist positions: 1 Summer Primary and 1 Summer Alternate (Oct – Feb) at McMurdo Station 1 Winter Alternate (Jan – Oct) at McMurdo Station Primary - The individual who is the "first in line" for the position and who will deploy. Alternate - The individual who is the "back-up" in the event that the primary candidate can not fulfill the position requirements. These mid-career contract Human Resources positions require deployment to Antarctica We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated experience in all areas including; investigations, administering disciplinary actions, employee complaints, coaching, mediation issues and the ability to adhere to policies and procedures. This person will also have well developed interpersonal skills and excellent problem solving skills. Extensive people interaction is crucial in this position. Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for providing H.R. support for all employees at this remote location. Handles all personnel matters as assigned with absolute confidentiality. Handles sensitive employee relations matters and makes decisions regarding disciplinary action as appropriate with absolute confidentiality. Involved in confidential personnel matters to include investigations and disciplinary actions. Acts as the liaison between employees, Project Headquarters and Area Directors from assisting employees with benefit enrollment to answering general questions. Researches employee inquiries and responds in a timely manner. Conducts training sessions as required, including harassment prevention, ethics, etc. Provides training, to include the employee performance development process, documentation and management training. Remains current on employment law. Understands employee benefits and can answer general questions regarding benefit matters.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Communicates in a professional manner while, in person, telephone and via email with employees, clients and other agencies in a professional and tactful manner. Maintains timely and accurate communication with company headquarters. Experience: BS/BA degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other degree required. Minimum of three years of human resources experience including well-developed inter-personal skills and problem-solving skills required. Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills. Must be computer literate in spreadsheet and word processing software and be able to produce documents. Supervisor experience and or PHR is a plus. Additional Polar Info: All contract positions include competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. For the time you are in Antarctica compensation also includes travel to and from the ice, room & board, and you are eligible for a performance-based bonus upon successful completion of your contract.
