DRS Signal Solutions, Inc. specializes in communications-surveillance products that meld both RF and DSP technologies and is a leading worldwide supplier of high-quality signal-intercept equipment.

The Gaithersburg, Maryland facility is a business unit of DRS Technologies. Employing about 380 people, this business unit provides creative RF solutions to the Department of Defense and prime contractors. The facility designs and manufactures HF, VHF, and SHF tuners and receivers, demodulators, direction finders and wireless intercept solutions.

Position Summary
The Senior Member of Technical Staff, Digital/DSP, creates a set of requirements, and then designs, develops, documents, tests, modifies, and maintains complex digital hardware devices, or related software, for radio control and signal processing. This position also provides technical leadership on a regular basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

FPGA design
Board-level digital design
Digital system design
DSP algorithm development and/or implementation
Will provide technical leadership and mentoring
Will write specifications, interface control documents, design descriptions and test procedures
Will contribute to proposals and technical manuals
Will provide technical support to Sales and Manufacturing teams

Minimum Qualifications

Must have BSEE, or equivalent, plus 7 years of relevant experience or MSEE and 5 years of relevant experience
Must have a record of success in completing complex FPGA or CPLD designs. VHDL preferred
Must have a record of success in completing complex digital circuit card designs
Digital signal processing background and experience is desirable
Experience writing software for DSP processor chips is a plus
Must be able to obtain a high-level security clearance
