Nature and Scope
The systems security engineer works within the Solutions Design IPT.
There will be significant customer exposure, through formal project meetings and working groups and so candidates must be comfortable with collaborative working to develop an overall solution.

The systems security engineer will be responsible to the Technical Lead on the programme. He or she is responsible for:

•        Developing safety management plans
•        Creating the system safety case
•        Orchestrating the product team activities to form a progressive safety case.
•        Interfacing to the external independent safety authority
•        Developing safety related requirements and monitoring throughout the development phase
•        Performing or coordinating system level trades (CCTO and CAIV)
•        Participate in Configuration Control Board for requirements development
•        Participate in Cost Capability Trade Offs as required
•        Developing and maintaining an open and honest culture within the program.
•        Identification and management of the technical elements of the risk mitigation plan.
•        Communication across the program to ensure an optimized engineering solution and avoiding surprises.

Education and Experience
Essential
A graduate qualified individual with an engineering industry background is essential, coupled with an adequate degree of commercial awareness.

The appointee will have a proven track record (minimum of 8 years) in system safety integration. This experience will include system safety from a system of systems down through individual component level safety cases.
Holder of current SC security clearance

Specific underlying technologies Oracle database, BEA middleware stack (weblogic, aqualogic, data services), Red Hat linux, Java, DOORS, Enterprise Architect

Desirable
Knowledge of the Environmental field as it relates to system safety

Competencies

Significant experience working within the system safety integration field with significant exposure to building safety cases as a system-of-systems including interfaces to large software systems

Proven ability to develop and manage safety related requirements in databases (DOORS)

Capability to chair meetings and workshops with external and internal customer communities during the flowdown of requirements to appropriate team members

General understanding of the system safety requirements of large software systems operating in real time.

Able to manage and work within agreed budgets;

Demonstrable Experience and Knowledge
Experience in the following areas are required:
Deep understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, and demonstrable application of relevant systems safety methodologies and toolsets;
Proven and successful track record in design and delivery of safety aspects of systems for major database intensive, system integration programmes;
Risk mitigation experience for safety related aspects of design and implementation
Knowledge and application of:
•        Travel Industry Knowledge;
