Nature and Scope

The Requirements Engineering roles work within the Systems Engineering team of the Solutions Design IPT. There are a number of roles at various experience levels from Lead Engineer to supporting systems engineers.

There will be significant customer exposure, through formal project meetings and working groups and so candidates must be comfortable with collaborative working to develop an overall solution.

The Requirements Engineers will be responsible to the Technical Lead on the programme. The Requirements Team:

•        Documents the customer/user needs and ensures that the program understands these needs.
•        Prepares specifications using technical knowledge of the specific product and general knowledge of what is needed in such specifications.
•        Sets up a requirement-management system, implementing full change management/control & maintains records of requirement traceability.
•        Ensures that requirements for lower-level products are derived from system level requirements using the architecture and a documented analysis or model.
•        Develops proposal and new business strategies for all types of new business efforts (ECPs, proposals, white papers).
•        Establishes strong relationships with the programmes customer, key stakeholders, Subcontractors, and Raytheon US counterparts.
•        Ensures that all engineering activities undertaken under their control are conducted to a common standard that reflects best practice, and are in accordance with CMMI as instantiated in RSL IPDS.
•        Uses Raytheon 6 Sigma proactively to foster a culture of continuous process improvement.
•        Maintains the technical content of documentation and standards of engineering work being performed on the programme within their technical control.

Education and Experience

Essential
Degree in Scientific or Engineering discipline; At least 5 years professional experience as Systems Engineer with experience in application architecture, design and solution implementation; Knowledge of information security;
Holder of current SC security clearance

Specific underlying technologies Oracle database, BEA middleware stack (weblogic, aqualogic, data services), Red Hat linux, Java, DOORS, Enterprise Architect

Desirable
Experience of equipment integration programmes,
System development in Travel Industry and large scale system of systems; architecture framework experience
