ARE YOU AN EXPERIENCED SUPPLY CHAIN LEADER IN THE DEFENSE ELECTRONICS INDUSTRY?

The Director of Materials will play a key role at Defense & Space Company,supporting the mission of being an employer of choice by assisting in new product and process development in a make-to-order high tech environment. In addition, the successful candidate will focus on ERP implementation (mySAP), partnering with other departments and building effective relationships to support new business development transfers to manufacturing. This position is located in San Diego, CA., and reports to our VP-Operations


• Manage and execute the responsibilities, roles, targets and budgets for procurement, material planning, production control, inventory management, warehouse and shipping/receiving operations for make to order high technology electronics.
• Implement and leverage ERP/WMS system to support Demand Planning, Production Control, Sales & Operations Planning
• Develop Supplier initiatives to improve performance of the supply base, including Supplier Assessment and Quality-at-the-Source tools, and VMI modeling
• Understanding of Small Business requirements (SBA) - Minority, Small Business, and Disadvantaged Business procurements
• Develop and Implement lean supply chain initiatives such as; Strategic Sourcing, Low-Cost-Country (LCC) Sourcing and Supplier Development / Long Term Agreements (LTA)
• Develop, implement and manage planning and inventory policies/practices including ensuring timely planning, acquisition, receipt and storage of all material, and in-process production planning.
• Represent enterprise to other company sites and locations as the Supply Chain Management representative.
• Manage parts obsolescence
• Develop and Implement lean supply chain initiatives such as; Strategic Sourcing, Low-Cost-Country (LCC) Sourcing and Supplier Development / Long Term Agreements (LTA)
• Manage inventory and turns, warehousing, distribution, and transportation/logistics


Qualified candidates will possess:
• Must be a self starter who is results driven, recognized as a hands-on leader with a history of achievement in optimizing total-cost-of-ownership, promoting technology and diversity, and improving quality, velocity, and service levels in a high technology electronics manufacturing and development environment.
• BS/BA in business, operations management or Info Systems. 10+ yrs in operations management with 5+ yrs in resources management, preferably in the electronics industry.
• Experience with Department of Defense procurement regulations and requirements including FAR, and DFAR.
• Demonstrated leadership, team building abilities, and good English communication skills.
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems & SAP experience strongly preferred.
• CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager, ISM) and CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management, APICS) a plus.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance
